About Milan
Born in Novi Sad, Serbia, his music studies span across various fields of study: Accordion, Music theory, Composition (Bachelor’s degree at the Academy of Arts in his hometown) and Voice (Master’s degree at the Tartini Conservatory in Trieste). He was among the participants of the second edition of YAP Crescendo at the Teatro Real in Madrid.
In 2023 he won three consecutive first prizes at international competitions: Les Corts (Barcelona), Josep Palet (Martorell) and BA Lirica (Busto Arsizio) - in all of which he also won special prizes. 2023 has also seen him win the second prize at 40th Ciudad de Logroño, la Rioja international competition. In September he sang at the finals of Paris Opera Competition held at the legendary Théâtre des Champs Elysées.
The latest acknowledgments come from the Sumi Jo International Singing Competition, where he was one of 11 finalists in the first edition held last July with over 500 applicants, the 20th Certamen de Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla, where he just won second prize last November, and, the crown jewel of the year, the first prize at the 7th Concurso de Canto Compostela Lírica.
In his repertoire are roles such as Lescaut (Manon Lescaut), Marcello (La bohème), Don Giovanni, Oreste (Iphigénie en Tauride), Vidal (Luisa Fernanda), Baritone (Carmina Burana), Le Chat and L’horloge comtoise (L’enfant et les sortilèges), as well as various comprimario roles. In 2022 he created the lead role of Alonso in the world premiere of the Zarzuela El orgullo de quererte by Javier Carmena at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid. During the same year he debuted on the stage of Madrid’s Teatro Real in a semi-staged concert with the JORCAM under the baton of Rubén Gimeno Martinez. In 2023 he made his debut and triple appearance at the Gran Teatre del Liceu: in Tosca, Incoronazione di Poppea and in the European premiere of John Adams’ newest opera Antony & Cleopatra. That same year he returned to Teatro Real, playing the roles of the Lackey, Ivan Ivanovich and Student in Barrie Kosky’s production of Shostakovich’s surrealist opera The Nose.
His concert activity includes varied music forms, such as song cycles by Britten, Fauré, Brahms, Vaughan Williams, De Falla, but also integral Zarzuela (Torroba’s María Manuela and Luisa Fernanda).
He sang under the guidance of world’s renowned conductors such as Emmanuelle Haïm, Giacomo Sagripanti, Shi Yeon Sung, Henrik Nánási, Jordi Savall, Luca Guglielmi, Mark Wigglesworth, John Adams…
Among his next role debuts we find Conte Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Malatesta (Don Pasquale), Schaunard (La Bohème), Cecil (Maria Stuarda), Harašta (The Cunning Little Vixen), Heerrufer (Lohengrin). His next house debuts include Paris Opéra - Bastille, ABAO Bilbao Opera and Teatre Principal de Palma.
